Transition-Scapes at Stadmakerscongres 2023

The focus of the program was the positioning of diverse city-makers within large transitions and new ways of collaboration. It was organized in the form of 10 simultaneous discussion tables. Together with our Rotterdam case, Huis van de Toekomst, we discussed the role of radical imagination for institutional change. Huis van de Toekomst is host to the Human Power Plant project, a radical experiment to organize the energy transition on human power alone. According to participants of our table, the value of such radical approaches is the embodied experience they can offer, which can contribute to challenging and eventually shifting existing perspectives. However, all people at the discussion tables identified the difficulties of having enough and the right kind of influence to involve institutional hierarchies. You can read a report by the Stadmakerscongres (in Dutch only) below.
