Testing Simulation Model to Engage Potential Residents of Haven-Stad

News & Updates

Members of our Community of Practice came together at Arcam on March 27 to test the latest Transition-Scape prototype for Haven-Stad. In the past few months, Dirk Bertels and Arthur van Schravendijk have worked on an interactive interface that connects to Model City Haven-Stad, but that can also be shown on other semi-public locations through printed maps.

The aim is to make people between 18 and 26 years old aware of how a future energy system could be arranged in Haven-Stad on three different scale levels: home, street and neighbourhood. The installation invites young adults, who are the possible residents of Haven-Stad, to reflect on how they want to live in the future and give their preferences for the energy supply of tomorrow. Their feedback constitutes an important source of information for the municipality. The Community of Practice gave feedback on several design dilemmas like tone of voice, amount of information, level of abstraction, functionality and how to address the target group more collectively. The next iteration of the prototype will be tested with students at the AUAS – Jakoba Mulderhuis between April 22 and 25.
